Ancillary Task - Poster
Below is my poster I created for my film and a brief explanation.
When designing my poster, I aimed to create one that references the classic drawn noir film poster. Therefore, using Photoshop I changed the saturation of Zoey's face until I felt it looked almost like a oil painting, which represents the cartoon like poster of Double Indemnity.
I liked the way L.A Confidential had its slogan in small italic writing, so that it didn't divert too much attention and makes the audience have to stop to read it, and so I recreated it and placed it over the left shoulder to signify the devil.
I noticed that in many film noir posters, the font for the actors names is plain and sans-serif, so I deliberately chose this font because I felt it recreated that. I used two different shades of red, a darker one for the actors names and a brighter one for the title, because I wanted the title to be the main focal point.
For further explanation on my choices for this poster please watch my evaluation.
