Locations

Below is a video explaining our location choices.

We thought carefully about what locations we wanted to use. Although noir films tend to be limited in terms of variety of locations, neo-noir films like L.A. Confidential use a vast range of different settings, locations and times of day, so we took inspiration from this. We noticed how L.A Confidential used lighting to create relief for the audience at the end of the film, and so we decide to reverse this and subvert it by having our film end at night, to show to the audience that there is no relief from this evil dark underworld. We liked how Brick used modern settings, for example the tunnel and car parks and so, inspired, we decided to incorporate this into our film by using urban settings. We also liked the office scenes between Walter and Keys in Double Indemnity and so set up our scene between Hawke and DCI Jones to reference it.
